The Red King Syndrome

"He's dreaming now," said Tweedledee: "and what do you think he's dreaming about?"

Alice said "Nobody can guess that."

"Why, about you!" Tweedledee exclaimed, clapping his hands triumphantly. "And if he left off dreaming about you, where do you suppose you'd be?"

-- Alice Through The Looking Glass

Suppose there were a group of celestial beings, called Elementals, who have the power to create universes. And suppose that one of these Elementals, Albion, fell into Slumber, and that the entire multiverse exists because Albion is dreaming.

Suppose there was a prophecy. And suppose there was a quest, and heroes were needed. Suppose even that there was an enemy in the shadows who wanted to destroy the heroes? Why, you ask? Let's leave that question aside for a time.

Now suppose that the heroes weren't yet strong enough to defeat the enemy. And suppose that Los, one of Albion's children, decided to hide the heroes. Where does a being with the power to create worlds hide a group of heroes?

And now we come to you. You've lived a lackluster life in a sleepy New England town where nothing really happens. And suppose someone came to you to tell you that your whole life, and even the whole town, was a lie, and that you are one of the Champions of Los.

All of this supposition is too ludicrous to be believed, though, isn't it? Let's leave that question aside for a time.
